Programming your Radion in Mobius
How to Set Up and Customize Your Radion Schedule in Mobius
Welcome to your guide for setting up and customizing your EcoTech Marine Radion light schedule using the Mobius app! Whether you're new to the platform or looking to fine-tune your lighting, this article walks you through everything from choosing a template to advanced editing features.
Step 1: Add Your Light to Mobius
When you first add a Radion light to Mobius, you’ll be prompted to choose a lighting schedule. You’ll have three options:
-
Coral Lab Template – Predefined profiles created by EcoTech.
-
Create From Scratch – Build your own using the Schedule Builder.
-
User Template – Apply a template you previously saved.
AB+ is the most popular Coral Lab template but all options are fully customizable and can be saved as user templates for future use.
Step 2: Template Activation Options
If you selected a Coral Lab Template:
-
Set the intensity to 100% or a lower custom percentage.
-
This can be changed at any time.
If creating a schedule from scratch, choose one of the following schedule types:
-
Linear: 4 editable points; simple and easy to modify.
-
Sinusoidal: Smooth curve with multiple points; mimics natural sunlight.
-
Parabolic: Uniform arc with more points; a balance between control and realism.
Step 3: Adjusting Light Appearance
You can customize:
-
Start and end times
-
Color temperature via Kelvin slider
-
Individual channel sliders for exact spectrum tuning
Kelvin Color Guide:
-
5,000–6,500 K: Warm yellow/white
-
10,000 K: Neutral white
-
15,000–20,000 K: Cool icy blue (ideal range: 12,000–20,000 K for most reef tanks)
There is no “best” setting—it depends on your coral types, tank size, and personal preference.
Step 4: Understanding Ramp Time & Photoperiod
-
Recommended light time: 8–12 hours per day
-
Ramp time: Transition period from 0% to peak intensity and back
-
Easier to visualize in Linear mode (diagonal lines)
-
Sinusoidal and Parabolic arcs are smoother and more natural
-
Step 5: Editing Your Schedule in Mobius

(Note: You can’t move a point past another without adjusting them too)
Swatches
A swatch is essentially a saved lighting setting, it includes the exact spectrum and intensity you’ve set at a specific point in your Radion schedule. Think of it like a "favorite" that you can apply to multiple points in your schedule without having to manually recreate the same settings each time.
-
Tap on the point in the schedule that you want to save as a swatch. (Pic 1)
-
Tap the heart icon at the bottom of the screen. (Pic 2)
-
Enter a name for your swatch and tap “Okay.” (Pic 3)
How to Apply a Swatch
- Select the point on your schedule that you'd like to apply the swatch to.
-
Tap the heart icon at the bottom to open your saved swatches.
-
Select the swatch you'd like to apply. ( Pic 4)
-
Repeat for any other schedule points you want to modify.
You can use the same steps for each point you would like to modify with your swatch.
Moonlight Settings
When editing a moonlight point (black dot purple arrow)
-
Choose between blue, white, or both
-
If Lunar Mode is enabled:
-
Full Moon = 100% intensity
-
Half Moon = 50% intensity
-
New Moon = 0% intensity
-
Special Effects
-
Cloud Effect: Slight dimming/brightening to simulate overcast skies
-
Storm Effect: Brief flashes of light to simulate a lightning storm
Increasing the percentage of the sliders below will increase the likelihood of storms or clouds passing through for that particular point.
Save and Preview Your Schedule
-
Use the Save icon (3rd pic- arrow pointing up) to store your setup as a user template. Once it has been saved it can be found under the template section mentioned above.
-
Tap the Play button to preview your 24-hour cycle in about 1 minute (4th picture: this runs your schedule at 100% intensity)
Final Setup: Time & Firmware Check
-
From the dashboard, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) (top right corner) > Settings
-
Select the Time section and confirm your current time if not select "Set to current time"
If your light isn’t running as expected, check this first!
-
Return to Settings > Troubleshooting > Verify Settings
-
Mobius will check for firmware updates for all devices in your tank group
-
If everything’s up to date, you’ll see blue check marks
-
Step 7: Radion Calibration:
Calibrating your Radion ensures each LED channel is functioning correctly and optimally. This is especially helpful after long-term use or when setting up a new fixture.
-
From the dashboard, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner to access the settings menu. (pic 1)
-
Tap “Devices.” (Pic 2)
-
Select the Radion light you wish to calibrate. (Pic 3)
-
Scroll down and tap “Calibrate.” (Pic 4)
Calibration Process
-
Follow the on-screen prompts to begin the calibration.
-
The system will cycle through each color channel individually.
-
For each color:
-
If you see any light coming from the LED, tap “Yes.”
-
When the LED goes completely dark, tap “No.”
⚠️ Important:
-
Calibration should be done in a dark environment for best visibility of each individual LED.
-
Only one Radion can be calibrated at a time.
-
-
Final Test
Once all channels have been checked:
-
The system will run through all color channels again, one by one, to verify calibration.
-
Your Radion is now calibrated and optimized for peak performance.
You're All Set!
Your Radion light is now fully programmed and running on a custom schedule tailored to your tank. Enjoy optimal performance and vibrant coral growth!
