Versa: Troubleshooting Guide
Overview
With any Versa Persislatic Pump, regular maintenance and peristaltic tubing replacement are required for normal operation. For a detailed outline regarding tubing replacement, please visit our tubing replacement guide. Below are some examples of situations you may encounter with Versa Peristaltic Pumps and how to troubleshoot.
Squeaking Noise:
A motor squeaking noise while running might indicate a potential rotor issue. To check and replace your rotor, follow the steps below:
- Disconnect Versa from power
- Slide off the clear plastic rotor cover
- Check your peristaltic tubing for any damage or blockage
- Using a 5/32" hex key, remove the center screw from the rotor
- Now slide the rotor off the motor shaft
- Gently clean the motor shaft and remove any debris (shaft should be smooth)
- Slide the new rotor assembly on to the motor shaft and carefully align the drive gear
- Tighten the rotor screw and install your peristaltic tubing assembly
- Complete re-assembly and power on
**A replacement Versa may be required if portions of the rotor bearing are seized on to the motor shaft. In this case, contact customer service for assistance**
Motor Grinding Noise / Stalling:
A grinding noise or Versa that is not dosing, could indicate a stalled motor. To troubleshoot a motor stall, follow the steps below.
- Disconnect Versa from power
- Remove the clear plastic rotor cover
- Disconnect input and output tubing connections
- Clean, and clear out input/output lines and tubing connections (be sure to check for obstructions)
- Remove and inspect peristaltic tubing (Check for damage or blockages, and clean/replace as needed)
- Re-assemble and power on
**If dosing a saltwater based solution or one that has a tendency to crystalize, it is recommended to dilute your solution. To do this, reduce the solution by 1/3 with RODI water and increase your dose rate by 1/3. This will help to prevent future blockages**
Back Siphon:
If your Versa is back siphoning, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
- Disconnect Versa from power
- Slide down to remove the clear plastic rotor cover
- Verify the tubing retainer is installed properly
- Verify peristaltic tubing is clean and free of obstructions
- Re-assemble and power on
**Replace peristaltic tubing and tubing retainer should the issue persist after reassembly**
Tubing Leaking
Leaking at the peristaltic tubing connections can occur under rare circumstances. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot a Versa tubing leak.
- Disconnect Versa from power
- Slide down to remove the clear plastic rotor cover
- Remove input and output tubing and check for blockages
- Inspect the peristaltic tubing for damage or blockages
- Re-assemble and power on
**Should the leaking continue, replace the peristaltic tubing and tubing retainer**
